Aménagement du parc
Situé entre le parc Barton et la Console du Jardin botanique, le parc William Rappard offre une vue panoramique sur le lac. Le domaine accueille l’Organisation mondiale du commerce. Le jardin est orné de plusieurs arbres remarquables:
deux cèdres géants, largement centenaires;
un cyprès bleu de l’Arizona offert par la délégation américaine;
un chêne pédonculé offert par la délégation lettone.
Plusieurs statues et une fontaine surmontée d’un Neptune embellissent le parc.
Histoire du parc
Le parc et sa villa datent de la fin du XVIIIe siècle. En 1921, la Confédération achète le domaine et l’offre à la Société des Nations deux ans plus tard. Construit en 1925 sur le modèle des palais florentins, le Centre William Rappard a été le siège du Bureau international du travail. Il héberge aujourd'hui l’Organisation mondiale du commerce.
