WHO: Kasan Red is owned and operated by John and Alex McLaughlin. John has been an East Atlanta Village fixture for many years, and brings decades of restaurant management to the table. Alex designed the menu and décor. With the help of a few friends (for which we are eternally grateful!) John did the remodeling, and painted the artwork. The restaurant is truly a labor of love….
WHERE: Kasan Red is located the heart of East Atlanta Village, at the southwest corner of Glenwood Avenue and Flat Shoals Avenue. There is a parking lot behind the restaurant; other parking is available throughout the neighborhood.
To get to the Village, travel east on I-20 from the I-75/I-85 connector. Exit I-20 at Moreland Avenue- South. Travel south on Moreland Avenue to the intersection of Moreland Avenue and Glenwood Avenue, and turn left. The intersection of Glenwood Avenue and Flat Shoals Avenue is just ahead.
WHEN: Serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner, Kasan Red is open from 9 am - 10 pm Monday-Friday; Saturday and Sunday we open at 8 am. Breakfast is available each day until 3 pm; lunch starts at 11 am on weekdays and 1 pm on weekends, and dinner starts at 4 pm.
The meal hours overlap- Monday through Friday, breakfast is served until 3 pm, lunch items are available from 11am through dinner, and dinner begins at 5pm. On Saturday and Sunday, breakfast/brunch is served until 3 pm, and lunch/dinner begins at 3 pm.
WHAT: What does the name mean? Kasan Red is the color of John and Alex’s 1973 VW standard beetle (named: Jellybean). Alex has owned the bug for almost 20 years and John drives it daily. The name of the restaurant is not about the car, itself, or in fact the color, but rather the laid-back, straight-forward, slightly funky feeling and attitude. Lovingly rebuilt and repainted several times, Jellybean keeps right on going, and bringing smiles to people’s faces. And that’s what we hope Kasan Red will do, too.
BEST OF ALL: We care about food and we care about people. We serve our customers what we would serve our family and friends in our own home. Our beef comes from Gourmet Pastures in Springfield, Tennessee. Our chicken comes from Springer Mountain Farms in Mt. Airy, Georgia. Our eggs are cage free, and our produce local, organic whenever possible.
