UMSL Science Education Programs
Descripción
UMSL is a leader in developing science educators in the Saint Louis region and the state of Missouri. The science education program coordinates content area and pre-service teacher development and certification for undergraduates. Graduate students, particularly at the doctoral level participate in a CADRE program for advanced graduate level work in science education teaching and research. The CADRE program is a science education doctoral studies model program and is part of the Center for Inquiry in Science Teaching and Learning (CISTL) at Washington University in St. Louis and the College of Education, University of Missouri - St. Louis and funded by the National Science Foundation.
Science education programs at UMSL prepare environmental educators for K-12 classrooms, informal education, and university research and teaching.
Science education at the University of Missouri - St. Louis is directed by Dr. Charles R. Granger, a Curator's Distinguished Teaching Professor with a joint appointment in the Department of Biology and College of Education.
Dr. Granger and the science education program were instrumental in developing a hands-on, project-based environmental education project at the Pierre Laclede Honors College (CHERP) serving St. Vincent Park.
