Durban Botanic Gardens
Overview
The Durban Botanic Gardens was established in 1849. The main attractions of the gardens are the rare cycad Encephalartos woodii and the Orchid house, which is best visited in Spring when the plants are flowering. The other main attractions include the visitors' centre, which has been landscaped with indigenous plants, the small indigenous forest and the large pond, which attracts a number of water birds.

Driving Directions: Travel on the N3 west from Durban CBD towards
Westville. Take the Berea Road (S) off-ramp and turn right at traffic lights across N3 bridge. Turn right at next intersection into King Dinuzulu Rd (Berea Road). Travel on this road and turn left into
Botanic Gardens Road. Travel along this road and turn right into
John Zikhali (Sydenham Road). The entrance to the parking area is located on the right.
