Entering Rueitai Ancient Trail from Rueili, after passing through the Fanyao Forest, the flora becomes complex and varied, and the ecology diversifies. On the way, visitors can see the five-striped blue-tailed skink and Formosan yuhina, and the forest bustles with the echoes of birds chirping. The visitors will need to climb over 900 stone stairs, a challenge of physical strength. At present, the bamboo forest is the dominant flora in this section, and the ecology is thus rather simple. Therefore, it is considered a prime location to observe the ecology of the Rueitai Ancient Trail.
