(904) 242-3259
Residents are requested to place their CFL bulbs in a sealed plastic bag.
JEA and the City of Jacksonville have created a collection program for compact fluorescent light bulbs to recycle mercury in the bulbs and keep it from being introduced into the environment.
JEA has recruited numerous retail stores that carry the energy-efficient bulbs in Duval County to act as Green Partners and accept spent CFLs from their customers. Each store has a Green Partner sign posted prominently for easy identification by customers.
JEA provides the proper disposal containers to collect intact residential CFLs and transports them from retailers to the City’s Household Hazardous Waste Collection site at 2675 Commonwealth Ave. The City of Jacksonville receives the boxes of spent CFLs and sends them to a recycling facility for mercury recovery.
