Rockrose City Farm and Garden
Vue d'ensemble
Baltimore City Recreation and Parks’ Horticulture Division runs the program. Membership is open to all Baltimore City residents. Each gardener pays a one-time nonrefundable application fee of $10, signs a City Farms contract, and pays a nominal rental fee, depending upon the location and size of the individual plot- standard 10’ x 15’ plot, or a smaller raised bed of 9’ x 6’. Experienced and novice gardeners, young and old, are welcome. City Farms gardens are fenced and locked, and participants gain access from dawn to dusk with a key. The gardens also have City water April through October, hoses and wheelbarrows. Wood chips and manures are also provided during the growing season. Rockrose City Farm, established in 2012, devotes half its plots to raising food for food banks. Members have periodic group work days to share communal maintenance tasks to help the garden grow, but members also hold regular social gatherings to help the neighborhood community grow.
