The aim of Camphill Village West Coast is to provide care and employment for adults with physical and/or intellectual disabilities, particularly those who are at risk within their families and/or communities.
The organization aims to create work and home environments which are mutually therapeutic and culturally and spiritually fulfilling to all. Camphill Village is committed to the improvement of living standards in the surrounding communities, through the creation of sustainable employment and a successful Youth Empowerment Programme for young people.
The Moya Centre provides basic medical and health care for the residents and staff of Camphill. The Centre is equipped to provide a range of therapies including Oil baths, Eurythmy, Painting/Art Therapy, Music Therapy, Counselling & Massage.
All work departments are committed to producing high quality goods and services, to be sold on their merits. Organic/biodynamic methods are used in farming and gardening, and the products have a reputation for high quality and being produced using ecologically sound methods.
The dairy produces yoghurt, butter, cheese, feta cheese, crème fraiche, and yoghurt ice-cream, while the bakery produces rye-ferment breads (wheat free and yeast-free), "hearth” loaves, seed loaves, light-brown and light rye breads, three kinds of rusks (including rye), rye biscuits and granola. Excellent free range meats are sold at the Camphill Farm Stall every Saturday. Camphill Village West Coast also produces a range of quality herbal cosmetics, massage oils, bath milks, creams, soaps, bath salts, herbal teas and culinary herbs.
Free-range eggs, honey, braai-wood, fresh fruit and vegetables, herbs, jams and preserves are on sale every Saturday and at the Sunday Market, held on the first Sunday of each month.
