The Kensington Kid's Cottage, located at the Kensington Metropark Farm Center, is a place for children and all to learn about natural building and sustainable living. Visitors can walk through Kids Cottage, look at the educational signage, play on the grounds, picnic, and explore a number of interactive traditional farm features, such as old fashioned fences, water pumps, a wooden tractor. Surrounded by gardens and plants, this is a beautiful place to spend an afternoon.
The Kids Cottage was built from local natural materials: earth, wood, stone, straw and includes solar design, compressed earth blocks as well as strawbale wall construction. The thatched roof of Phragmite reed grass completes this enchanting building. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eRjx87lnQSw
