East and West Meighan Creeks, groundwater creeks which are two of the most productive salmon spawning and rearing habitats in the area, are under threat from a proposed highway development plan. The project would threaten springs and spawning pools, both essential to the salmon who make their way back in the fall to spawn, and for coho fry which live in the creek for up to a year before swimming to the river.
