Sustainability Initiatives for Rhoads Hall
-plastic, aluminum and paper recycling bins on each floor in each residence hall, in each lobby and some outside areas.
-cardboard dumpster located behind the building on a permanent basis.
-front load HE washers, which reduce amount of water used and detergent necessary.
-using recycled paper towels and toilet paper in the residence hall public restrooms and community bathrooms on each floor.
-switching to compact fluorescents in place of incandescent bulbs as they burn out.
-dispose of fluorescent tubes, old ballasts, batteries, etc by taking them to AERC Recycling Inc. in Ashland for proper disposal.
-scrap metal is recycled by our maintenance staff at Stratton metals.
-reuse dust rags and floor mops by washing them rather than disposing of them.
-all housekeeping chemicals are green, except for disinfectant.
-Student Move Out collections in the spring of each year to collect unwanted food, clothing, books, furniture items and appliances.
