Kimball Office worked with idea|span and H2Ecodesign on this project, re-opening the showroom to a warm welcome from the design community this spring. The showroom, located at 3445 Peachtree Road, is in a dense, urban area of Atlanta where our efforts to preserve green space and reduce urban sprawl are especially important.
A few project highlights:
•During construction, they were able to divert 50% of all construction waste from going to a landfill.
•They reduced the quantity of indoor air contaminants by using our Kimball Office SCS-certified furniture as well as adhesives, sealants, paints, coatings and carpet containing low or no VOCs (volatile organic compounds).
•They achieved 24% overall recycled content by using showroom materials like carpet backing, solid surface materials, acrylic panels and millwork substrates that contain recycled material.
•Their energy efficient equipment and appliances use sensors that automatically adjust light levels throughout the day - and 90% of our equipment is Energy Star rated.
•All showroom waste is co-mingled and separated off-site into recycling bins to reduce overall waste from visitors and employees.
•90% of seated office employees have access to natural light - glass walls and systems furniture with lower panel heights allow direct daylight views.
•They work with a green cleaning service as part of our long-term commitment to green initiatives and creating healthier indoor air quality for employees and visitors.
