"The formerly known 1925 art deco-style Montgomery Ward Catalog Building is now Montgomery Park Business Center, with an extensive greenroof over a former train shed. The previous brownfield site is a great example of an adaptive reuse project after being abandoned for 15 years. The roof has a low-maintenance groundcover in a shallow 4" growing media of expanded slate (75% inorganic). DMJMH+N, an architecture/ engineering firm in Washington D.C., restored the facade of the landmark building. The Montgomery Park Business Center won the 2003 Green Roofs for Healthy Cities Award of Excellence in the Retrofit Extensive category."
