Overview
This is the area that was once home of Frederick Lubbersen - -the Dutch colonial who was granted land in 1640. It was located at the "head of the branch of the Gowanus Creek which penetrated nearest the village of Marechkawick (Brooklyn Heights)" It is in this land grant that we have reference to the planting grounds that were located in what is now Boerum Hill.
