Staying in the Daddy Long Legs Independent Travellers Hotel is like being part of an interactive art exhibition. The thirteen-room boutique backpacker is quite unlike anything else in South Africa. Not only is each room uniquely decorated by an artist, poet, photographer, designer or musician, but, they were afforded complete freedom to interpret the space as they pleased, resulting in a collection of hotel rooms that are an adventurous, humorous (and sometimes ironic) representation of Cape Town’s contemporary cultural landscape.
The hotel holds regular fundraisers to support local arts and culture as well as other development projects; a number of environmental initiatives focus on energy, water and waste, and a new eco-friendly room is available to guests. They are committed to staff training and development, they support small businesses and aim to reduce their environmental footprint.
