Overview
The Hout Bay Green Faire is a quarterly fair held by Envirochild, a small but growing group of volunteers who want to help promote a sustainable future in the Hout Bay valley.
Envirochild promote Hout Bay as a Transition Town - one of 1000 (so far) cities and towns around the world who are taking responsibility for their own sustainability.
They invite all residents of Hout Bay to participate - either by attending the Green Faire, participating as a green exhibitor and promoting your product or service, or getting involved in one of their projects.
They plan for change by easing dependence on globalised systems for food, energy, transportation, health, and housing. They strengthen community and environment by becoming more self sufficient and more conscious of impacts.
They connect with each other to share skills, knowledge and ideas for better ways of doing things.
Hout Bay Green Drinks is another one of their initiatives. Green Drinks are a monthly gathering to chat informally about the many amazing 'green ideas' emerging, possible solutions to problems and generally to create a place where like minded people can meet and network.
