Overview
The people of South Africa produce 566 million tons of waste per year and more than 90% of all South Africa’s waste is disposed of in landfill sites. Recycling is an area where everyone can make a contribution to living lightly on our planet.
Recycling means recovering, separating, collecting, processing and ultimately using a material that would have been thrown away.
Oasis provides a free collection service for more than 200 businesses, collecting all recyclable material and also offers a service for shredding of confidential documents. We also have a highly frequented domestic drop off facility on the corner of Lee and Lansdowne Roads, Claremont which is open Monday to Friday from 8 am to 4 pm and every Saturday from 9 am to 2 pm. Oasis accepts paper, board, books, glass, plastic (no 1 & 2), electrical appliances in working order, and good quality bric-a-brac.
Oasis provides work and skills development opportunities for men and women with intellectual disability. We run the Book & Bric-a-Brac shop in Claremont which specialises in gently used second-hand goods with a satellite shop at Old Mutual, Jan Smuts Drive, Pinelands.
