Buitengracht Pedestrian Bridge
Overview
The Buitengracht pedestrian bridge provides safe passage to the 4 500 pedestrians and cyclists who cross the busy Buitengracht daily. The 101 metre-long steel bridge’s position, partly sited on top of an underground parking garage, partly on reclaimed land, and in a narrow corridor between two busy hotels, presented significant challenges. This project has earned several local and national design awards. The bridge is an invaluable legacy of the 2010 FIFA World Cup.
