Overview
The Roman Catholic Church of Transfiguration is overwhelmingly Chinese today, operating as a elementary school for Chinese children (most of whom are Buddhists) and offering English-language classes and job training programs for adults. The church was originally built for English Lutherans who, by 1853, had moved away and sold the building to an Irish Catholic congregation.
