Overview

Average: 5 (1 vote)

Cowpark Pond is situated in Cowpark Wood, between Gartmorn Dam Country Park and Deerpark Primary School. The pond had long been silted-up and had been identified on the Sauchie Green map as a blight site, causing frequent flooding to the road and nearby school playing fields. This seasonal pond has now been restored with funding from the BBC Breathing Places project, volunteers from BTCV, Deerpark Primary, Wee County Explorer Scouts and the Conservation Action Team. Deerpark Primary School have adopted the pond and surrounding woodland as their environmental classroom.

Enid Trevett Oct 2008 "Cowpark Pond was created as a direct result of the Sauchie Green Map and is now used as an outdoor classroom for Deerpark Primary. It is also to be found on the BBC Breathing Places website raising awareness of what can be achieved by united voluntary action!"
