Overview
Four Mounds, a Dubuque Landmark Site, is named after four ancient sacred Native American burial mounds on the property. This area was inhabited by Woodland Indians. The burial mounds were named to the National Register of Historic Places in November of 2000. Four Mounds is also a Silos and Smokestacks National Heritage Area affiliate site.
A model of volunteerism and community partnering at its best, Four Mounds is a non-profit organization with a mission to preserve and educate. The historic Four Mounds estate is available to the public in a variety of exciting ways...

The estate consists of about 60 acres of bluffland along the Mississippi River, comprised of cultured grounds, historic gardens, woodlands, prairie and rare oak savanna. The 17 buildings that make up the estate were residential, farm, recreational and support structures for the site.
