Overview
Starting a new chapter in our history, the Alfred R. Goldstein Library, an $18 million state-of-the-art library of the future, will open in the fall of 2016. Architecturally stunning, the very building itself is designed to adapt and grow with new technologies to come. And at 46,000 square feet, the facility will have ample room for our extensive collection, 30% of which is currently housed off campus.
Gone are the days of sifting through the silent, stuffy shelves. We will welcome our students to choose a quiet corner if they desire or join their peers in the Creative Cauldron, a modern and inviting section for collaboration and conversation. Here, the furniture will be moveable, the workstations adaptable, and the experience customizable. The new library will be an active physical and virtual destination on the Ringling College campus—an intellectual, cultural, social, creative, and technological hub alive with the ebb and flow of students, faculty, and visitors. With increased technological capabilities and access, the new Ringling College library will redefine its mission and strengthen its instructional role within and beyond its walls.
