Overview
La Plaza Cultural is a green space that combines the features of a community garden, park and play area, wildlife refuge, and performance venue. This space is utilized by local day care centers, after school programs, and parents with small children for recreational and learning purposes. The space is open for events like BBQs, work days, birthday parties, and yoga. The garden’s compost system requires different binds for food scraps and garden weeds, and excludes meat and dairy in the compost. 2013 Winner of First-Ever Manhattan Community Scale Composting Contest.
