Holy Nativity Lutheran Church Demonstration Rain Garden
Overview
History:
The Holy Nativity Lutheran Church rain garden was installed to beautify the site. The project was initiated by a Master Gardener who was previously trained through the Stormwater Management in Your Backyard lectures.
Type of Runoff Managed:
This rain garden manages stormwater from the Holy Nativity Lutheran Church's driveway and rooftop. With an average rainfall of 44 inches a year, this rain garden intercepts, treats, and infiltrates approximately 22,000 gallons of stormwater per year.
Installation:
Approximately ten Master Gardeners of Gloucester County were present for the installation of the rain garden in July 2007, which was approved by the Holy Nativity Lutheran Church. The supplies for the rain garden were provided by the Rutgers Cooperative Extension of Gloucester County and Holy Nativity Lutheran Church.
