AQUS will be the first east coast pilot test of this greywater recycling system design, which captures and reuses sink water in order to flush the toilet. Sloan Valve Company has created a compact greywater system for the bathroom that is easy to install since it works with the existing features of your bathroom. Student volunteers will host this system in a campus dorm beginning in September, and detailed evaluation of the system will provide a case study for widespread implementation beyond NYU.
This has the potential to save a household nearly 5,000 gallons of clean water every year--for our NYU dorms...this will translate to huge savings in both water and money!!
Installation of the AQUS system is anticipated in the spring 2009.
