The Rockland County Solid Waste Authority is divided into the Materials Recovery Facility and the Co-Composting Facility in Hillburn, the Household Hazardous Waste Facility in Pomona, and the Yard Waste Composting Facility in West Nyack. They have each their own symbol on the map.
Education
At the Herb Reisman Environmental Education Center, the education center for the Solid Waste Authority, you can find out where our garbage goes, how recycling really works, how to turn leaves, grass and food waste into compost, how to properly dispose of household hazardous materials and other important issues affecting our environment such as energy and water quality.
