The Juvenile Aid Bureau, which is the section of the Hempstead Police Department that deals with delinquents under the age of 16, directs a program called The Gang Resistance Education and Training Program. This program is presented to about 550 fifth and sixth graders every year. The goal of the GREAT program is to prevent delinquency, youth violence, and gang membership.
