Isaac Hopper Residence
このサイトについて
This site was home to Isaac T. Hopper who was a Quaker businessman, abolitionist, and reformer.
He is famous for writing and helping to write many slave narratives, including one by Solomon Northrop, a free black New Yorker who was kidnapped by bounty hunters and taken to Louisiana as a slave.
1874, the site was bought by trustees and it became the Isaac T. Hopper Home. In one year more than 300 women passed through its doors. Presently, it is a shelter and home for 16 women who are mainly recovering substance abusers and former prisoners. It is managed by the Women’s Prison Association
