An award winning centre that offers a unique opportunity to see a number of innovative and ecologically sound features at work, including the turf roof, Photo Voltaic panels providing free electricity from the sun, solar panels for hot water, underfloor heating, local timber, and recycled furniture. The Environment Centre's Eco-Annexe houses our visitor centre, which comprises information displays, notice boards, library, internet access, green shop and coffee bar with seating area. The Centre also offers: Support of environmental groups & projects, low cost office space, meeting rooms and administrative services and support for partnership projects. Information provision - an up-to-date information area with leaflets, posters, newsletters, information sheets and journals. An environmental reference library with a separate section for environmental education resources. Green Light - a monthly newsletter produced by the Environment Centre. A program of exhibitions and a demonstration and information annex containing free internet access for sustainable research. Educational activity - providing a first point of contact for teachers and pupils interested in finding out about environmental issues or becoming involved in practical projects. Programme of activities for school and youth groups, in-service training and resources for teaching staff. Support for school managers in developing curriculum ideas and environmental policies and much more.
