Vetch Veg Community Garden
![Community Garden: Often planted on public or formerly abandoned land, community gardens are run by volunteers who cultivate vegetables or flowers and closer relationships to nature and one another. Generally open to all participants, they are sometimes fenced, locked or threatened by development. May offer hands-on learning and a habitat for birds and insects. Overview
The Vetch Veg Community Garden is sited on 'the Vetch', the historic Sandfields home of Swansea City Football Club. It was initiated by a project commissioned for the 2012 Cultural Olympiad as a participatory-artwork in association with Adain Avion, Taliesin Arts Centre, Glynn Vivian Art Gallery, Swansea Environmental Forum and the City and County of Swansea.
By October 2012 the gardeners had become a constituted entity with a committee of some 18 residents representing all the participating groups who live in the Sandfields area.
There is a registered bee-keeping project on site and discussions are underway to expore how Vetch Veg can participate in the Nectar Point Network.
