Msinsi Nature Reserve
Overview
Msinsi is a 7ha reserve containing a small area of coastal grassland, which is relatively rare within the city. The forest area has also started regenerating from its former use as a mango tree plantation. There is also good birding at Msinsi, and in particular the resident breeding pair of Black Sparrowhawks. Small mammal species, such as banded mongoose, are also present.

Driving Directions: Take the N3 west from the Durban CBD towards Westville. Just before leaving the city, take the Ridge Road off-ramp and turn left into Mazisi Kunene Road (South Ridge Road). Travel along this road past the entrance to the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) and turn right into Rick Turner Road (Francois Road) at the T-junction. Travel along this road for approximately 1 km and turn right into Gate 10.
