Overview
Nungwane River Falls is a 100 meter high waterfall near Amanzimtoti, KwaZulu-Natal. Presently the area is feared to be compromised by a nearby eucalyptus tree plantation which threatens to soak up much of the local ground water supply and change the water level of the Nungwane River.
Indiginous plants are found in the forested area around the falls. Forest elephant's foot, or skilpadknol, and endemic flower species such as doll's powderpuff, and Streptocarpus prolixux grow here. These special plants are species at risk and require habitat protection if they are to persist.
The falls are accessible by a short hiking trail; see map for location.
