Wing Dam
개요
WING DAM
A wing dam is a water control structure which is also known as a wind dike. These structures extend partly into a river in order to "force water into fast-moving center channels which reduce the rate of sediment accumulation, while slowing flowing water flow near the riverbanks" (2018) . Wing dams are man-made and mostly composed of debris along the river such as tree branches, rocks, and stones. Though wing dams are helpful for controlling the river, they are also really dangerous for boaters as they can be hard to see. Contrarily, fishermen tend to love wing dams as they easily corral in more fish.
