Jacksonville-Baldwin Rail Trail
Overview
Visitors to the 14.5 mile Jacksonville-Baldwin Rail Trail can explore what was once a part of the CSX railway line. This multi-access trail offers an abundance of natural recreational opportunities: the two separate distinct paths permit either a path for walking, jogging, in-line skating and/or biking while the parallel path is for horseback riding. (No motorized vehicles.)
Along the landscape, there is a diversity of natural habitats, including pine flatwoods, wetlands, and hardwood uplands. These areas attract wildlife such as songbirds, hawks, wild turkey, and white-tailed deer. The dense canopy covering most of the trail provides shade and, in certain locations, gives the illusion of traveling in a tunnel. Several rest areas with benches are provided along the route.
