St. Mary's Spiritual Center & Historic Site
Visão geral
St. Mary’s Historic Site, site of the first Roman Catholic Seminary in the United States, established in 1791. It is home to two buildings on the National Register of Historic Places: the Mother Seton House, home of the first US-born canonized Catholic saint, and the Historic Seminary Chapel, designed by the renowned French architect Maximilian Godefroy, and dedicated in 1808. Open daily for tours. The site is also home to St. Mary’s Spiritual Center, offering various lectures and programs on the topic of Christian spirituality. The historic buildings edge the largest public green space in Downtown Baltimore, St. Mary's Park, 4.75 acres of mature trees, and lawns with brick pathways, that the Sulpician fathers deeded to the City in the 1970s.
