It was designed by Oscar Niemeyer to pay tribute to presidnet Juscelino Kubitschek and to portray and preserve the history of the construction of Brasilia and the strugle to transfer the capital . It was inaugurated on the same day that was the new capital (April 21st 1960), being the oldest museum in the city. It hosts a permanent exhibition of historical transcripts and quotes about the transfer and construction of the new capital (including translations into Braille language). The "T"-shaped monument is a quadrilateral construction supported by a cube base. The white marbel facade is engraved with historical phrases, including a tribute message by the city's pioneers and candangos to president Juscelino, the words by president Juscelino during his first visit to the construction site of Brasilia in 1956.
