Overview
Mount St Francis is the motherhouse for the Sisters of St. Francis of the Holy Family. With a strong commitment to preserving creation, the Sisters have restored part of their land previously used for farming back into native prairie. In addition, they have installed various features on their property like bioswales and rain gardens which help stormwater infiltration. Trees around the grounds have been inventoried and nameplates placed on them to further educate others on the flora. Currently they are constructing a new infirmary which will have a geothermal heating system and other sustainable features aiming for LEED certification at the Gold level.
