成立於民國73年，前身為文化中心、文化局，依據屏東縣政府89年8月31日屏府秘法制第139194號函（令）於89年10月2日改制為文化處，為屏東縣政府之府內局。並依據「屏東縣政府組織自治條例97年2月18日屏府行政法第0970032845號含修正布於97年2月20改制為屏東縣政府文化處。
