Rezumat
History:
Clawson Memorial Park rain garden was installed as part of the Stormwater Management in Your Backyard program that targeted the Master Gardeners of Hunterdon County.
Type of Runoff Managed:
This rain garden collects stormwater runoff from the park's walking path and lawn, with an area of 600 square feet. With an area of 120 square feet, this rain garden will be able to handle storms up to 1.25 inches. For storms greater than 1.25 inches, overflow from the rain garden will be routed to the surrounded grassed area.
Installation:
Approximately twenty people were present for the installation of the Clawson Park rain garden installation in October 2009, among them Master Gardeners of HunterdonCounty and Rutgers Cooperative Extension Water Resources Program staff members. The rain garden was designed to be 12 feet by 10 feet and capable of infiltrating water from storms up to 1.25 inches. Sand and top soil were added to the soil during the rain garden installation. The native plants that were installed were donated by Pinelands Nursery & Supply.
