Doors to Sustainability Art Display
Overview
The Doors to Sustainability Public Art Project uses the communicative power of art to raise awareness of Dubuque’s Sustainability model, which promotes cultural, environmental, and economic growth through 11 guiding principles. The Artists transformed 10 salvaged doors into beautiful art pieces, each interpreting one of 10 principles, with the 11th principle, Community Knowledge, represented by the entire project. The doors were displayed for several weeks in the Roshek Building, which supplied the salvaged doors as it underwent a complete green remodel. The doors were distributed among sponsoring businesses throughout Dubuque, creating a permanent art tour.
This Door, at U.S. Bank in downtown, depicts the Sustainability Principle of NATIVE PLANTS & ANIMALS. The artist is Sarah Barnes.
