Overview

Originally a wide tidal creek named Cockle Creek, this area was dredged by the US Navy after WWII and renamed Silver Lake Harbor. This is the heart and soul of the fishing and boating community in Ocracoke. The oldest part of town is located nearby. The Harbor can be enjoyed in many ways: take a stroll, by kayak, by boat, or just sit on the deck of one of the outdoor restaurants and enjoy a sunset with supper! There are two mariners located in this harbor. One is located at the National Parks Service docks and the other docking area is at the Anchorage Inn and Marina. There is mooring available in the harbor.
