Overview
The Ciesbd Thrift Store is a resale shop that sells goods that have been used previously. It is run by a local nonprofit group, Center for International Education and Small Business Development, and the manager Jonathon Marmah declares, “Our mission is to provide educational, health, welfare, and medical assistance to underprivileged youths and adults, and to create economic opportunities for them.” All proceeds from the store go toward helping alleviate the issue of social and economic inequality of marginalized citizens and communities. This store deals with every pillar of sustainability. It sells used clothing and items that would otherwise probably be in the trash/landfill, so it is environmentally sustainable and does not contribute much waste at all. It achieves economic and social sustainability by selling these items at low prices affordable to everyone and donating all the proceeds to communities that are experiencing economic and social inequalities. Ciesbd Thrift Store is a great addition to the Prince George’s County community and it represents a sustainable business that deserves the community’s support.
