Burghers Post and Cloof Conservation Area (Wine Estates)
![公共森林/自然区域: Natural Reserve, National Parks, Regional Parks, other parks and public forests, even private land that has been set aside for conservation. Balance your emphasis of forests with parklands to discourage the over-use of natural areas. 公共森林/自然区域](https://www.opengreenmap.org/sites/default/files/taxonomy_image/category_pictures_73.gif)
![原生森林/植物: Flora that is indigenous in the region, sometimes called old growth, heirloom or indigenous species. Native species requires less water and care than exotic imports, and usually attract more birds, bees and butterflies, and help the cycle of life stay in balance. May include a master gardener, permaculturalist or horticulturalist or information center. 原生森林/植物](https://www.opengreenmap.org/sites/default/files/taxonomy_image/category_pictures_75.gif)
![当地生意: An economic enterprise solely based within the community, not a national franchise or chain store. Locally owned and managed, sources goods locally and reduces impacts associated with shipping, but not necessarily a green business. 当地生意](https://www.opengreenmap.org/sites/default/files/taxonomy_image/category_pictures_7.gif)
![付责任公司: Business with exemplary environmental and social responsibility standards and practices, and is a good neighbor. Ideally, their products are green, as well. May belong to a CSR (corporate social responsibility) program or include CSR on public reports and websites. 付责任公司](https://www.opengreenmap.org/sites/default/files/taxonomy_image/category_pictures_10.gif)

Both Burgherspost and Cloof wine estates were awarded Championship status with the Biodiversity and Wine Initiative in 2006 and has maintained that status ever since. We've established a 1200 ha wild flower conservancy with CapeNature and initiated a vigorous alien clearing program.
Even if the region geographically (not to mention demographically) is more than a little off-centre, Darling’s annual wild flower show – showcasing a selection of the 1200 flowering species to be found here – makes it the focal point of the Cape Floral Kingdom.
Late in 2006 Cloof and Burghers Post were named Champions under the Biodiversity & Wine Initiative, in recognition of the steps we’ve taken to conserve pristine natural vegetation, and to rehabilitate previously cultivated areas. The programme also sets extremely strict standards in terms of the potential environmental impact of vineyard and cellar activities.
Darling’s unique combination of soils and climate give rise to the trademark bold-flavoured richness of Cloof wines.
