The Economic Development Corporation of Sarasota County is a successful public/private partnership focused on growing and diversifying the economy of Sarasota County, while enhancing the county’s unique natural and cultural environments. The EDC is the catalyst for creating a vibrant economy that is sustainable and globally competitive.

EDC considers it part of its mission to lead by example and adopt the environmental stewardship that the community feels all organizations should implement. The EDC established a "green team" and used GBP standards to develop their Green Office Policy. They implemented a comprehensive waste reduction and recycling program, met with their property management to ensure the landscaping and utilities met GBP standards, and have integrated their environmental expectations into their new employee orientation program.
