Song-do Abandoned railway station
Overview
Song-do abandoned railway station is placed between Sorae Port and Incheon Port. The train stationed was formed here so that is was easy to transfer salt from Korea to Japan during the Japanese Colonial area. However this was not the only usage of this station. Around this station, markets would form to sell various sea foods tat were caught in Sorae Port. Though the Songdo Station was small, it was packed with people everyday who wanted to take a ride on the train. Songdo Station closed itself in December, 1995, and ever since then, it was left there without much care or protection. There had been ideas of appointing this place as a cultural site, but nothing has been completed to protect the value of this station. Now, the station is left abandoned with the old building being used by a private company. It is time we come up with a way to protect this old site with a great history.
